Who We Are
In 2020 The Road Home was selected to operate the Gail Miller Resource Center in Salt Lake City. This emergency shelter serves up to 200 men and women nightly, with no prerequisites for service.
We are one of five resource centers for people experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake County operated by The Road Home. The others are the Pamela Atkinson Resource Center in South Salt Lake that serves men, the Connie Crosby Family Resource Center in Midvale, the Medically Vulnerable People (MVP) Resource Center in Sandy, and FINCH (Family Interim Non-Congregate Housing) in South Salt Lake.
The Road Home was founded in 1923 and was originally named the Travelers Aid Society. In October 2001, we officially changed our name to The Road Home to better reflect our mission of helping people step out of homelessness and back into our community through emergency services, personalized case management and collaboration with additional resources.
What We Do
Our center provides emergency shelter services for adults experiencing homelessness, including but not limited to a bed to sleep in, three daily meals, showers, blankets, clothing, laundry, and connection to critical community resources to find a permanent, stable home.
Our teams work closely with guests to understand their barriers to housing, connect them to vital resources, and advocate for them every step of the way. We implement Housing First principles in all our programs, where we focus on helping people quickly move into a home with supports to help them remain housed.
