Volunteer: Serve Breakfast at the PARC

Overview 

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at The Road Home's Pamela Atkinson Resource Center. We are grateful for your support!  This facility provides meals, shelter, and other resources for up to 375 guests. We are open 24/7, 365 days a year for our guests and provide three meals each day.  This opportunity invites individuals and small community groups to serve breakfast at PARC for shifts of 2 hours. You will assist kitchen staff in preparing and serving meals, preparing to-go meals for on-the-move guests, sanitizing/cleaning the kitchen, doing dishes, and more. Breakfast is served every day from 7:30 am-9:30 am


Requirements   

All volunteers must be at least 12 years old and wear closed-toed shoes. Volunteers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. All volunteers will be asked to wear a hairnet (provided), a beanie, or a ballcap worn backwards. A food handlers permit is not required to participate in this opportunity. This facility can accommodate 5 volunteers per shift in the kitchen.


Directions and Parking

We are located at 3380 S 1000 W, South Salt Lake, UT 84119.

All volunteers will drive through the main entrance gate to be let in. The main entrance gate is located at the south end of 1000 West. Use the call box at this entrance to be let through the gate, then please drive around the building and park anywhere in our back lot. You may enter through the kitchen staff door located on the northside of the building, ring the doorbell to notify staff that you have arrived.

We are grateful for your support!  The individuals we serve may be away from the resource center during mealtimes for a variety of reasons (employment, doctor's appointments, job interviews, housing applications or inspections, etc.). Your generosity helps us to ensure that everyone has a chance to eat.    

What to Include

In each to-go meal please provide one main dish (sandwich, rice bowl, etc.), two sides (fruit, veggie sticks, granola bar, etc.), one snack/dessert (cookie, chips, etc.), and one beverage. We do not have any dietary restrictions. 

We ask for 30-50 meals but can take up to 100. Please let us know in the note section how many meals you are planning to bring.  

Delivery Instructions

Please bring the prepared to-go meals to PARC on your assigned day between 9:30-11:30 am or 1:30-4:30 pm

Requirements 

This opportunity invites individuals and small community groups to our donation center at PARC for shifts of 2 hours. You will assist warehouse staff in accepting and sorting donations, organizing clothing, and other needed tasks. Volunteer opportunities are available Monday-Friday from 11:30 am-1:30 pm. All volunteers must be at least 12 years old and wear closed-toed shoes. Volunteers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. This facility can accommodate 5 volunteers per shift in the donation center.
