Volunteer: Organize Donations at the CCFRC

Overview 

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at The Road Home's Connie Crosby Family Resource Center. We are grateful for your support!  This facility provides meals, shelter, and other resources for over 60 families (over 230 guests). We are open 24/7, 365 days a year and provide resources like clothing and hygiene products for no cost to our guests.   


Requirements 

This opportunity invites individuals and small community groups to our donation center at CCFRC for shifts of 2 hours. You will assist warehouse staff in accepting and sorting donations, organizing clothing, and other needed tasks. Volunteer opportunities are available Monday-Friday from 9 am-11 am, 11 am-1 pm, and 1 pm-3 pm. There are also opportunities on Saturday and Sunday from 7 am-9 am, 9 am-11 am, and 11 am-1 pm. This facility can accommodate 5 volunteers per shift in the donation center. If you are interested in bringing a group of 6-10, please email volunteer@theroadhome.org with a requested shift. 

All volunteers must be at least 12 years old and wear closed-toed shoes. Volunteers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. This opportunity may require you to be outside, so please dress accordingly for the weather


Directions and Parking

We are located at 529 9th Ave, Midvale, UT 84047.

Drive to the end of the road and enter the gate on the right side, which usually is open. Park in any available parking spot in front of the building. Walk towards the donation area behind the gray fence. If the fence is not open, you can enter into the front lobby and let the staff know you are here to volunteer.

This opportunity invites individuals and small community groups to our donation center at GMRC for shifts of 2 hours. You will assist warehouse staff in accepting and sorting donations, organizing clothing, and other needed tasks. Volunteer opportunities are available Monday-Friday from 11:30 am-1:30 pm. All volunteers must be at least 12 years old and wear closed-toed shoes. Volunteers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. This facility can accommodate 5 volunteers per shift in the donation center.


Directions and Parking

We are located at 242 W Paramount Ave. in Salt Lake City.

From our front parking lot, you will see a gate at the north end of the lot. Approach the gate and use the call box to let our front desk know you are here to volunteer. Follow the road around the building to our back parking lot and park in any open stall. If volunteering with a group, please consider carpooling, as parking can be limited.

Please note that sometimes, map apps incorrectly route volunteers to an entrance on High Ave. but this is not a public entrance and you will not be able to enter. Please be sure to enter via our public entrance on Paramount Ave.

To enter the building, please follow the volunteer signs located in the back of the building. If the door is unlocked, or the garage door open, you are welcome to simply enter the building and head to the kitchen or warehouse. If the door is locked, please ring the doorbell located to the left of the door.

This opportunity invites individuals and small community groups to our donation center at PARC for shifts of 2 hours. You will assist warehouse staff in accepting and sorting donations, organizing clothing, and other needed tasks. Volunteer opportunities are available Monday-Friday from 11:30 am-1:30 pm. All volunteers must be at least 12 years old and wear closed-toed shoes. Volunteers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. This facility can accommodate 5 volunteers per shift in the donation center.

All volunteers will drive through the main entrance gate to be let in. The main entrance gate is located at the south end of 1000 West. Use the call box at this entrance to be let through the gate, then please drive around the building and park anywhere in our back lot. You may enter through the kitchen staff door located on the northside of the building, ring the doorbell to notify staff that you have arrived.

We have some basic supplies available to use in the Playroom. If you need specific supplies, feel free to email and ask about availability. We generally have the following supplies available (please note that item availability is based on donations and may vary):

Not everyone is able to enter shelter, for a variety of reasons. We try to still provide these individuals with resources, and our Street Outreach Team works tirelessly to provide unsheltered families with the items and supplies that they need to avoid hunger, maintain hygiene, and protect themselves from the elements. If as an individual or as a group you would like to help our Outreach Team, below are some items that work well in distributable kits, but also know that kits can contain a wide variety items and that they are not limited to just what is on this list.
